Extending Pub Opening Times
I was recently interviewed for The Kerryman on Justice Minister Helen McEntee’s proposed Sale Of Alcohol Bill. My stance is in line with AAI’s urge for scrutiny. One of my biggest concerns was the lack of risk assessment on the unintended consequences for public health and social issues.
Should pubs and nightclubs extend their opening hours?
A study in Norway found each additional one-hour extension to the opening hours is associated with a 16 per cent increase in violent crime. I honestly do not see any benefits. You can read the full article here.
