Access To Alcohol Treatment – Webinar
Almost 15% of the population in Ireland (578,000 people) have an alcohol use disorder. However, according to the Health Research Board’s data on alcohol treatment in 2020, there were only 3319 new presentations gaining access to alcohol treatment services. This issue has been covered by The Irish Examiner and our hope is to raise awareness for significant change throughout the country.
We recently held a webinar which explored aspects of accessing alcohol treatment with contributions from those with lived experience and from service providers. Speakers included:
- Prof Jo-Hanna Ivers, Trinity College Dublin
- Anita Harris, Residential Service Manager, Coolmine Therapeutic Community
- Amy Roche and Andy Robertson Finglas Addiction Support Team
As a board member of Alcohol Action Ireland, I was honoured to chair the event. I welcome you to view a recording of this webinar below.
